Exploring energetic dynamism through large-scale drawings and paintings, Grassi’s mark-making vocabulary translates into abstract science fiction environments where liminal spaces, flora, and creatures emerge from dark, atmospheric voids. Through an obsessive cycle of drawing, erasing and rebuilding, monsters or architectural structures and the passage of time is physically manifested, and the soul of the city is found.

This body of work comprises mixed media artworks in combinations of chalk pastel, charcoal, colored charcoal, conté crayon, graphite, water-soluble graphite, acrylic paint, Sumi and acrylic ink, acrylic paint, marker, gel pen, and collaged paper on paper and canvas.

VIEW EXHIBITION

A Gallery has since 2012 represented artists integral to the diverse cultural identity of Martha’s Vineyard. In a myriad of settings and locations across the island, from year-round, to seasonal Pop Ups, and as guest curators.

We’ve transformed and mutated to suit our circumstances. Sometimes mercurial - always with precision.

We enjoy exhibiting a broad range of art from a multi-generational family of artists we’ve had the privilege to showcase, and we’re always excited to introduce new talent as it emerges.
